Vehicle Body:
A major component of a vehicle is the body, which is attached to the chassis.
Earlier generations of vehicles had a simple wooden cover body attached to the horse carriage.
Automobiles today are made from metal, providing a more stylish design.
The body has the following functions:
In order to provide protection against both weather and collision, a vehicle's body serves the following functions:
It protects passengers from wind and weather.
For the comfort of the passengers.
To provide a stylish (better looking) appearance to the overall vehicle.
A requirement from the body is:
Stiffness in torsion
To prevent flexing on bad roads, the body of the vehicle should not twist between the front and rear.
The stiffness of the beam
The body of the vehicle should be stiff to prevent sagging in the middle to prevent jamming of the doors.
Protection against side impacts
The side members and doors of the vehicle should be able to withstand side impact forces in the event of an accident.
Glass for safety
Laminating the glass on the door and the glass on the front and rear of the car is a good idea. The laminate should prevent the glass from shattering in case of an accident.
High resistance to side wind
To ensure better handling, the vehicle should have a sufficiently high resistance to side wind. With a tall body, the vehicle experience more side wind resistance, resulting in inferior road handling. It ensures better road handling and lowers resistance to side winds when the body of the vehicle is relatively low.
Less resistance to overflowing wind

On the vehicle, the body is assembled with various mechanical components.
In order to reduce vibration and noise, various types of rubber mountings are used between the body and the mechanical components.

The vehicle body should protect the engine, chassis equipment, and passengers against all types of weather.
Various coatings and paint layers are applied to the body of the vehicle to enhance its protection.
